We built this interior for Gary Chopit Kustoms.
The car is now owned by Barry Weiss from the hit TV show "Storage Wars".
The car took 3 years to build and debuted at the Blackie Gejeian's Fresno Autorama 2005...the most prestigious show in America. We were really under the gun on this car. The Fresno Autorama was the perfect show to debut this car and Gary was running behind. He was three weeks late for his appointment with us which didn't leave us much time and we didn't want to let him or the shows promoter down. My team and I worked day and night and finished the car on time to make the show. The interior is done in Pearl white Naugahyde with Porsche carpet. The front and rear seats are from a 60s era Thunderbird. We cut apart the rear seat frames and welded them back together so they fit the shape of this body and still looked like the wrap around seats from a T-bird. Everything else on the inside was custom made including the dash, console and DVD perch. The Beatnik Bubble top took the "Best Custom". They awarded Gary an 8' trophy and everyone was talking about the cars super radical design. In 2006, the car won the George Barris "Kustom D'Elegance" Award, Outstanding Custom and 1st Place Class awards at the 57th Annual Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California. It also went on to win the $20,000 Gold Award at Darryl Starbird's National Rod and Custom Car Hall of Fame show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Meguiar's 2006 Best Custom, Top 20 Award and the America's Cup at Carl Casper's 44th Annual International Championship Custom Auto Show in Louisville, Kentucky, Top Wild Custom in Paso Robles Cruisin' Nationals 2005, World's Most Beautiful Custom Achievement Award at the 56th Annual Sacramento Autorama in 2006, 1st Place Handbuilt Custom and the Rothrageous Award from the Roth Boyz at the 54th Annual Detroit Autorama.
We are proud to have been chosen to handle the interior work on this Kustom.
